Characterization of bacterial and fungal isolates using DNA fingerprinting
By means of molecular biological typing (DNA fingerprinting), bacterial and fungal isolates can be characterised down to strain level. This helps to trace contamination paths in the context of environmental monitoring and to detect scattering sources. This method can also be used in the biotechnological industry for quality control of starter cultures with strain-specific properties.

The technology applied combines the advantages of classical ion exchange separation with the modern technology of HPLC.
