This spring, BioChem put another ion chromatograph into operation in our analytical department. In order to meet the regulatory requirements and the wishes of our clients, we rely on the ICS-6000 system, the latest in the model series. Background information on ion chromatography:

Since 2011, the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) has been implementing a monograph modernisation initiative in which wet chemical as well as spectroscopic methods for the identification and content determination of ions and counterions are being replaced by IC. Examples of monographs in which IC has already been used are the determination of ammonium in sodium bicarbonate, chloride in sodium chloride inhalation solutions or the content determination of magnesium citrate.

In addition, we observe that IC is also gaining more and more importance in our customers’ approvals.
